On PRIDE…

Pride is not something you celebrate for just a month. The people who came before us sacrificed way too much for us to be confined to a month. They would want us to celebrate PRIDE every day we live. We have to be true to ourselves, and honor what we like, and not be afraid to express ourselves.

On Inclusivity and Accepting Friends…

My grandmother raised me… before I’m gay, before I’m black, I’m a human being. You have to be respectful with your energy. Your face, your body language, the ways we show up… Even as you’re learning, respect can always be applied.

Be mindful. Open ears, open mind, open eyes. Understand there’s always gonnna be things we’re not used to, but [if you can] come in with an open mind, you might leave with a new friend.

When asked “What does it mean to be a friend?”…

It’s thinking of people before they even have to ask. Whether it’s my time or my energy, giving the shirt off my back or giving the last of things I cherish. I just like being there, and showing up in ways that are meaningful, when I know friends need me the most.

On Love Languages…

How you’re a friend to one person might not be the same way you show up for another friend. Everyone is different.
